Summary:
The Marketing and Communication Specialist is an integral part of the team to build our awareness through the development and implementation of the Y's marketing strategies and communication processes, both external and internal that will drive enrollment for our programs and services, increase our member engagement, and strengthen our relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners and our donors.
The Specialist will support aspects of Philanthropy awareness and participate in the leadership team of all special events.

KEY
Responsibilities:
Leverage YUSA campaigns to create and implement strategies to drive membership, program, and charitable revenue to meet goals as set by the team.
Develops and manages all marketing and communication project plans ensuring timely, consistent, and effective marketing and communications.
Manages our social media presence and evaluates effectiveness, including but not limited to:
overall coordination of member communication portal (Engage), mobile application, website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube channel.
Responsible for the design, implementation, and coordination of all print and digital materials including copywriting, design, and coordination of internal & external stakeholders.
Be responsible for facility communications including but not limited to:
bulletin boards, updating and posting schedule changes, signage, flyers, and overall appearance.
Assists with developing, coordinating, and/or advocating at special events, presentations, and membership promotions with the YMCA and the community.
Works with Funds Development to grow annual support campaign, Lamplighter members, and 130thbirthday year campaign.
Acquire and maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of the organization and its programs to develop persuasive presentations, proposals, reports, etc.
through research, writing, proofreading, and development of materials.
Assist Business Manager in job searches.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain a consistent professional image through dress and nametag, actions and relationships with others.
Speak enthusiastically on behalf of the YMCA at any given opportunities.
Participate in applicable training and conferences to further professional growth as well as participate in staff meetings, Board, and other committees, as requested.

Qualifications:
Degree in Marketing and Communication or three years of equivalent experience.
Strong skills in the ability to interact, work with, and motivate people in a positive manner; excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications and computer knowledge.
Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software.
Experience in web design and content production is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills and demonstrated professionalism in both attitude and appearance.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
CPR AED certifications, Child Abuse prevention, Bloodborne Pathogen and Kankakee Area YMCA New Employee Orientation and Listen First training within 90 days of hire date.
